Alan Wagner, M.D., the founder of the Wagner Macula and Retina Center and a renowned ophthalmic surgeon, came to us with a tall order. He wanted an annual report that explained complex ophthalmic research and sight-saving procedures, communicated the warmth of human touch, and incorporated the bright primary colors and Mondrian Bauhaus design used throughout his facilities. We spent several days in Virginia Beach interviewing, photographing, and getting to know the practice. For design, we turned to the brilliant David Griffin of Moran Griffin, who brought his sophisticated eye and, coincidentally, love of all things Bauhaus to the project. The result: just what the doctor ordered.
